Today I am going to review Inbox Dollars. One of the survey/rewards sites that many people are familiar with thanks to it being one of the few sites in the industry that has even got some air time thanks to the ABC’s popular morning show, Good Morning America.
That segment on GMA, really caught people’s attention and InboxDollars become very well-known.
To find out more why ID has been making all the right noise lately in the paid online paid survey space, I put together a detailed review for those not familiar with the site.
As far as operation goes, this company does not work differently from its competitors in the paid survey industry. It is certainly not one of a kind here. So do not expect it to spring up any surprise, if you have ever been a participant in any paid survey online.
Even though there are now lots of buzz around Inbox Dollars these days, it is interesting to note that the company did not start out as a survey panel.
Its parent company, CotterWeb Enterprises, gave birth to it in 2000 originally intended it to be an online rewards club, which offers cash back as members do their shopping online.
In fact, the original plan went so well that led it to think about other earning possibilities, and they eventually included surveys, games, referral program, read mail and get paid, etc… as their other offerings.
Indeed, ID has undergone significant transformation to become a full fledged online survey panel today, alongside with Send Earnings and Inbox Pounds (for UK residents).
All are fully owned and operated by the same parent company.
Despite the well-established success story, there continue to be lingering doubts about the viability of the company, specifically if Inbox Dollars is connected to any sort of scam?…
I can be on the record to say that this site is not out to defrault people of money. Unlike some other online survey panels, it also does not demand any sign-up fee from new members.
In fact, it will gladly pay you $5 when you are ready to set up an account with the site.
This gesture is primarily what got the market talking, which in turn attracts the attention of Good Morning America.
While doing your registration, you can expect a host of questions to be filled. Most concern your personal details and online shopping habits.
This has now become a standard operating procedure from virtually every online panel.
The pretext of soliciting these personal details is to make it easier for survey panels to pre-match selected surveys with suitably qualified candidates.
It is easy to assume that filling out questionnaire is no-brainer exercise.
So being able to make some extra money while doing so seems enticing. Well, I am not going to challenge you by saying this is going to be rocket science, but there are a couple of things for you to bear in mind.
- First off, you need to be on alert mode and ready to start whenever surveys are made available to you.
- It is also well advised that you will pay particular attention as you respond to the survey. If you simply ticking-off boxes indiscriminately, the panel would notice and that will not do your future income at the site any good.
How Reliable is it?
Inbox Dollars is a long time player in this survey panel game, with about 10 years under its belt. More than just surveys, the company also dabbles in areas like gaming and shopping.
It is a trusted site, so there is little worry of it being a scam. Personally, my interaction with the site has been above board all these years and they never try to raise question whenever I want to cash out or do redemption.
Another thing that is worthy to point out is that InboxDollars is on a nice growth path. Inc. Magazine has ranked them among the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America for 5 consecutive years.
And you will see from their website that a total amount in excess of $25 million has been paid to participating survey takers since 2000.
What I am saying is that this site has gained the trust of its members over the years, and the issue of it being legit or not should not trouble you one bit.
Inbox Dollars VS The Rest of the Competition
The online survey panels market is a crowded one, but there are a few things about Inbox Dollars that truly stand out.
For starter, I like the fact that you can find a wide variety (with broad range) of paid surveys to choose from.
When you sign on as a new member, you will automatically be included in their product testing and online focus groups. For me my personally, these two represent some of the more interesting aspects of survey work, and the money is decent as well.
But talk about gratifying experience. You will be delighted to know that the reward program covers some of the most established brands. The partnership network is not just extensive but also counts some of the more desired brand names such as Walmart, Target and Netflix.
The products associated to these popular brands are often in good demand, so you have to admire the marketing team to put together such established names.
One thing that I find inspiring in doing survey work is the realization of the fact that I now suddenly have a say on how companies and manufacturers develop and improvise products and services.
I want to raise this alarm for some of you who think you can play the system and get away with ticking off check boxes without much thinking, hoping to make a quick buck really fast.
But however indiscriminate you may be, you have been warned here that Inbox Dollars may just be the most discriminate panel around. They will call your bluff, and there would be a price to pay.
It is difficult to fault ID, or any other site for that matter, for being diligent, as the company is actually paying you good money in exchange for your honest and true opinions, which the sponsors (the businesses and manufacturers treasure).
When survey panels are not able to upkeep this principle, they often won’t be in the business for long.
For your own benefit, and for the overall viability of these online survey panels, it is going to be in your interest that you take these surveys in as forthright manner as possible.
Inbox Dollars Review by Other People
Consistent with my practice when reviewing websites, I also collate inputs from the online community on what they thought of Inbox Dollars in order to try to come to a just conclusion, as the way I did CashCrate recently.
Most people think highly of the “getting paid for reading emails“.
This feature of ID is attractive because it demands real little of your time and it never intends to stretch your gray matter.
Granted such trivial task would naturally pay little, but if you keep your head down and make a habit of opening and reading emails, it can add up to a fair bit.
At regular intervals, the site also rewards members with freebies such as shopping discounts.
Mind you, these are not just some symbolic price reductions, but meaningful, huge discounts. In fact, the discount is so significant that I habitually drop in to see if any discounts available to me whenever I have something in mind, before heading to the shops.
Judging by the number of gaming fans Inbox Dollars garners, I got to say its decision to play the gamers must have struck the right cord.
Gamers of all sorts got really wild over it, and these are the bunch of guys who help you to spread the words. Never before I encountered such profusion of praises and admiration on one single website!
In the final analysis, I would hesitate to recommend Inbox Dollars to anyone.
Yes, the “pay as you play” idea is a new novelty and fans seemed to have gotten blown over it. But not everyone can be great at games.
For the rest of us, we will need to invest time to hone our skills, times that could be used to seek out a better paying work like survey taking.
On that account, it also does not do well; as it is well known in the industry the payout for survey work here is measly.
But its never-ending free trial invitations really did it for me, as I rate that as the greatest show stopper.
However, for some reasons, that you still think Inbox Dollars might just click for you, then you would be grateful to know that this is a completely legit site and there is no worry of scam.
